Position Summary: 

We are looking for an experienced, innovative and highly motivated Sr. Dir/Director of Medicinal Chemistry to lead a team within our Chemistry and Applied Modeling group.


  • Lead and develop a team of outstanding medicinal chemists focused on the design, synthesis, and optimization of innovative small/heterobifunctional molecules from hit identification to candidate selection
  • Provide direct strategic and tactical input on the medicinal chemistry strategy for the rapid progression of portfolio projects.
  • Contribute to target selection and hit/lead finding strategies including the use of structure-based drug design and fragment-based drug discovery
  • Establish and maintain a clear understanding of the internal computational capabilities, and how to apply these tools to support new compound design.
  • Manage CRO chemistry teams through excellent synthetic and medical chemistry troubleshooting, with clear and open collaboration.
  • Mentor other members of the Chemistry and Applied Modeling team on key aspects of advancing programs from target validation though lead optimization and delivering clinical


  • PhD with 8+ years’ experience working in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology setting as a medicinal chemist or equivalent experience.
  •  A strong track record of successfully advancing multiple drug discovery programs from target validation though lead optimization and delivering clinical candidates.
  • Knowledge and awareness of advancing compounds from lead optimization to development candidate, including optimization of critical ADME and PK properties for human translation, advanced compound profiling and interpretation of in vivo studies.
  • Highly knowledgeable in the understanding of the relationship between physiochemical and ADME properties on drug exposure, and the integration of this information into compound design and profiling.
  • Experience using structure-based drug design and closely collaborating with computational chemists and modelers to prioritize compound designs for synthesis and drive compound
  • High-level understanding of how compound design/chemistry integration supports project teams goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Experience in managing external and internal chemistry resources to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency and the ability to manage timelines and resources to drive projects toward key decision c criteria.
  • A track record of technical excellence as shown by peer reviewed publications and inventorship status on patents.
