Senior Investigator, Computational Proteomics

Location: Roivant Discovery 451 D Street, Boston, MA 02210 USA

At Roivant, we are passionate about discovering and developing new drugs to impact patients' lives. Since its inception in 2014, Roivant has launched over 20 portfolio companies (Vants), overseen 5 successful IPOs, established a $3B partnership with a global pharma, built a pipeline of over 40 assets across various modalities and therapeutic areas, and delivered 8 successful phase 3 readouts. Roivant is currently building new capabilities in drug discovery and expanding its existing development engine to become the world's leading tech-enabled pharmaceutical company.

At Roivant Discovery, we have built a proprietary suite of proteome-wide datasets, assays, and compound collections to systematically prosecute targets via covalency. We are leading the field of covalent drug discovery, expanding the druggable proteome, and unlocking the next generation of high-value small molecule therapeutics across disease areas. This role is an opportunity to be an architect of this paradigm shift and generate transformative benefits for patients.

Our goal is to improve human health by rapidly discovering, developing, and delivering innovative medicines and technologies to all patients. Our success is predicated on attracting and retaining top talent, generating new ideas and promoting an open and collaborative culture.

We embrace diversity across all dimensions and levels of the organization and we strive to ensure every employee is supported in reaching their full potential. We hire motivated people with diverse backgrounds, identities, experiences and skillsets. We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture where all employees feel valued, respected and empowered to create value for patients.

Position Summary:

We are recruiting a Senior Investigator – Computational Proteomics to the Translational Proteomics group. The successful candidate will support the build of our computational (chemo)proteomics platform and drive data processing, analysis, integration, and visualization capabilities. S/he must have a strong desire to develop and apply computational strategies aimed to expand the druggable proteome. The candidate is expected to work closely with database engineers, multi-omics, chemo-informatics, and experimental scientists in our interdisciplinary team and across the entire organization. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a newly founded group that is pushing the boundaries of mass spectrometry-based (chemo)proteomics to accelerate the translation of basic science into clinical solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build, optimize and automate chemo- and affinity proteomics data processing and analysis workflows.
  • Support the build and design of a proprietary human Disease Reactome database enabled by translational disease models.
  • Support systematic mapping of side-chain post-translational status, functionality, reactivity, and expression levels across disease-relevant biosamples.
  • Analyze data from high-throughput (chemo)proteomics screens in collaboration with Roivant’s multi-omics and translational informatics groups to enable systematic functional insight and shape research hypotheses.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary and cross-functional drug discovery teams to expand the druggable proteome. Be exposed to multiple stages of drug discovery and regularly present research findings to the team.
  • Interface with academic collaborators and CROs to implement novel computational deep learning technologies and push the boundaries of proteomic data processing, analysis, and visualization.
  • Publish research in high-profile journals and represent the company at scientific conferences.

  • PhD. in computational biology/proteomics, bioinformatics, or an associated field (M.Sc. candidates with relevant skills and experience will also be considered). Experience in the drug discovery industry is advantageous.
  • Proven track record of processing, analyzing, visualizing, and integrating quantitative proteomics datasets to generate actionable insights. Experience with structural proteomics is a plus.
  • Strong coding abilities and fluency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R). Strong expertise in the analysis of “big data” and data exploration using interactive visualization environments (e.g., Spotfire, R Shiny).
  • Sound understanding of statistical concepts and best practices.
  • Creative and independent thinker with demonstrated ability to solve complex technical and scientific problems.
  • Highly self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, yet team-oriented and capable of building strong relationships with peers, customers, and partners/collaborators.
