Senior/Principal Investigator, Computational Biology and Genomics

Position Summary:  

Roivant Sciences is seeking an exceptional scientist at the intersection of genomics and computational biology, to translate molecular profiling data into high value insights for structure-based design of precision medicines in multiple disease areas including oncology and inflammatory diseases. This individual will have a critical, high impact role in guiding target selection and biomarker identification for patient selection. This will include close collaboration with Roivant’s industry leading physics and machine learning based computational platform. A key objective will be to integrate disease relevant sequence variants with protein structure and dynamics to understand conformational states to modulate therapeutically (conformational genetics). Additionally, this role will involve defining further growth in genomics and computational biology capabilities.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Integrated datamining of genomics datasets including somatic and germline next generation sequencing (NGS) data including whole genome, exome DNA-seq, bulk and single cell RNA-seq, and chromatin profiling
  • Analysis of genotype/phenotype relationships to establish gene and variant level therapeutic relevance for precision medicine-based drug design
  • Mapping genetic variants to protein to predict impact on structure, conformational states and function
  • Target selection in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team; prioritizing genetically validated targets for entry into the drug discovery portfolio
  • Genomic biomarker discovery to identify patients for precision medicines
  • Evaluation of emerging platform technologies in genomics, computational biology and related areas; providing expert technical input to guide Roivant investments


  • PhD or MD/PhD degree in the area of genomics and/or computational biology
  • 3+ years post-PhD research experience in industry or academia
  • Excellence in bioinformatic analysis of large scale somatic, germline genetics and gene expression datasets
  • Experience in design and analysis of genome level NGS experiments
  • Experience in drug discovery preferred
  • Experience in fast paced, start-up environments is preferred – able to work comfortably under pressure, frequently changing landscape and tight deadlines
